Milwaukee Tools was started by A.H.Petersen in Winsconsin in 1914. But was closed briefly by a fire in 1922 which temporarily killed the business.

In 1924,Albert F. Siebert was able to purchase the company's remaining assets at auction, and reopened the company as the Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation.
